During the presentation which took place on May 16th, Microsoft provided a report on the use of blockchain technology for the identity system. The idea is that users should become the sole owners of personal data. This information should not be stored on any corporate services or databases. When creating a decentralized identification system, Microsoft plans to use the capabilities of the Lightning Network technology.
“To provide support for a huge mass of users, the used technology must have excellent scalability, as well as be stable. A number of blockchain networks can become a reliable base for speeding up the processes of identification, adding data to the network, and fixing operations. At the same time, some blockchains do not have high bandwidth, plus are not capable of running millions of transactions per second. One must prepare for such volumes of transmitted data during the creation of a decentralized network for identification. To overcome these technical barriers, we will use the Layer 2 protocols that work on blockchain”, Daniel Buchner, a leading developer of Microsoft Corporation, noted.
